REVIEW: Not Your Mother's Blue Sea Kale & Pure Coconut Water Weightless Mousse Foam

Packaging - 5 (excellent)
Volume - 5 (excellent)
Longevity - 5 (excellent)
Scent - 5 (excellent)
Texture - 5 (excellent)

You guys, I am SO IMPRESSED with this product! I am going to start testing more form this brand. You all know I am a hair care snob, but I read the ingredients on this and it passed the test. So I tried it and I am hooked! Let's break down each of my ratings. I gave it a five on packaging. The blue and the text aren't really as clean or expensive looking as I'd like, but it is pretty. However the main reason for the 5 is the functionality. The pump on top turns the liquid inside the container into a foam, which is so nice because that creates an aerated substance that adds body to your hair without using a pressurized aerosol system (like most mousse products) which isn't great for the environment and usually causes you to loose out on a quarter of the product because once the pressure is gone you can't get the product to dispense correctly from the container. This doesn't have that problem.

I kind of hit the nail on the head when I described the superior function just now but the volume is great! This product is light weight and the aerated water-foam is perfect for adding volume without weighting down the hair at all. There are no heavy oils in this, but I do not feel like it's drying at all. And to skip down to texture I also don't feel like it's stiff, sticky or hard. My hair feels soft and natural like there is nothing in it. It has a really pleasant tropical smell that isn't super strong but is still present. A little goes a long way. I have to use 2 pumps of product on my hair, sometimes three. But this is a big bottle. You get 8 fl oz of product and it's only $9 so the value is there! You can learn more about this product and pick it up here.

I did want to mention one thing I am not loving about this product or line. Not Your Mothers created a line they call "naturals" but I am not buying it. I researched every single ingredient in this product and there are man made surfactants and conditioners in it. But here's the thing, most man made surfactants are better for your hair than all natural ones. I have no problem with any of the ingredients, but I am not a fan of the marketing trend of throwing a coconut on something and calling the whole product natural, when it's not. There ARE botanically derived products and brands out there that don't use any chemicals like Juice Beauty and Phyto. As I stated, I have no problem with the ingredients, just the misleading marketing.
